The Mt Martha Netball Club was founded in 1984 by Ian Hunter, who was the residing Physical Education teacher at Mt Martha Primary School.

 

When Ian asked for girls to play netball, the response was overwhelming! Ian started 6-8 teams immediately and the club was formed. Training was held on Thursday nights at the school courts, with red and blue teams for each age group.

Players were charged $1 a week to play on Saturdays against other local clubs, in an eight week twilight competition. Ian coached various teams for twenty years and is still a Mount Martha local! Thanks to Ian for founding such a brilliant local community club and being such a great advocate for the sport!
